The studio has attracted top artistic supervisors and technical leads combining experience and expertise from every major animation studio, and many countries around the world!
David Steinberg - Head of Studio
David Steinberg joined Starz Animation Toronto in January 2007 after 27 years as an artist, producer and executive in the animation industry. At the Walt Disney Co., he oversaw production for movies like Hercules, Tarzan, Mulan and the 2007 release, Meet the Robinsons. Credits also include Secret of NIMH, An American Tail and The Land Before Time. He is also a children’s author with 13 books in publication.
Terry Dale - Head of Operations and Training
Terry Dale oversees day-to-day operations and the studio’s technical infrastructure, equipped with the insight gained from 23 years in production, including 14 at this company. His experience spans vfx supervision, compositing, editing, and systems oversight. He also plays a mean guitar.
Matthew Teevan - Head of Production
Matthew Teevan brings 20 years experience in animation production, spanning Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Prince of Egypt and Flushed Away, on which he was DreamWorks’ Supervising Production Manager. In March 2009, he set a world record for successfully delivering two major animated features in the same week.
Heather Kenyon - Head of Sales and Project Development
Heather Kenyon oversees new project initiatives for Starz Animation Toronto. Her extensive animation career includes serving as head of series development for Cartoon Network as well as monitoring the industry pulse as editor-in-chief for Animation World Network. There is nobody that Heather Kenyon doesn’t know.
Jeff Young - Head of Finance and Business Development
Jeff Young, CA, was CFO for two major construction companies prior to joining Starz Animation Toronto. Jeff is considered a forerunner in the use of technology in the accounting and administration functions. His combination of finance, tax and job costing skills will ensure clients receive timely and accurate information and assistance.
Sari Schwartz - Head of Human Resources
Before being named Director of HR at Starz Animation in October 2005, Sari Schwartz held similar positions at Nike Canada and ad agencies Wunderman Canada and Bensimon Byrne. It has been successfully proven that she laughs more than any other HR Director in the world.
Rob Burton - Head of Technology
Rob Burton has guided the development of animation production technologies and infrastructures for over 25 years. As a former Director of Technology at Disney’s The Secret Lab and the Dream Quest Images, his credits include Mighty Joe Young and the Oscar Winning Total Recall. Rob also served as a global industry expert and consultant for numerous companies including the one that sent him to technically inspect Starz. As soon as he saw the Toronto facility, he knew this was the studio he wanted to call home.
